Senses of Belonging

Exploring Vietnamese foodways through memory using the five senses.

  • Print and Publication

This project explores Vietnamese food as a sensory language of belonging shaped by memory, migration and adaptation. Framed through the five senses: sight, sound, smell, taste and touch, it examines how traditional dishes and everyday cooking practices evolve in Singapore while maintaining emotional connections to home. Drawing from personal narratives, Senses of Belonging materialises these sensory experiences into visual and material forms, revealing how identity is experienced, carried and reimagined through daily food practices.
