Tanisha Shaw is a Creative Technologist and Design Innovator studying Design Communication at LASALLE College of the Arts. Her practice explores the intersection of design, human–computer interaction, and emerging technologies, focusing on the creation of meaningful and embodied human experiences. Through experimental interfaces, tangible systems, and interactive media, she investigates how technology can move beyond efficiency and functionality to encourage reflection, connection, and more intentional forms of interaction.
Human Out the Loop
A Prototyping Exploration of Tangible Interfaces for Remediating Technostress Through Embodied Social Connection
Human Out of the Loop is a series of experimental investigations into tangibility as a response to the pervasive intrusion of digital technologies. Through iterative design of physical interfaces, it shifts interaction from screen-based immediacy toward spatial engagement, prioritising presence and slower, reflective communication through tactile input and ambient feedback. The final prototype, TeleFlora, is a remotely connected garden where each flower represents a person’s activity status through the states of 'bud', 'blooming', or 'bloomed'.
