Im Kim Jaewon, a Korean designer based in Singapore, completing my BA(Hons) in Design Communication at LASALLE College of the Arts. My practice sits between visual design and code, focused on real-time systems that respond to sound, time, and human presence. I work with Python, ModernGL, TouchDesigner, and field recording. My graduation project, Where Sounds Breathe, translates the soundscapes of two Singapore districts into an interactive fluid simulation, asking how a city can be understood through what it sounds like.
Where Sounds Breathe
Singapore's soundscapes, translated into a fluid you move with your hands
Where Sounds Breathe is an interactive installation that translates the sounds of two Singapore districts, Bugis and East Coast Park, into a real-time fluid simulation. Field recordings drive a living field of particles, and visitors enter through a simulated taxi space to explore each location with their hands. The project asks how a city can be understood through what it sounds like.
