Rethinking Furniture Design as Emergency Infrastructure for Flood-Prone Areas
Adaptable furniture could play a crucial role in disaster preparedness, especially during floods where mobility and safeguarding belongings are critical. TARU is one such design—a resilient stool that functions as everyday furniture and transforms into a modular raft in times of crisis. By combining recycled plastic, canvas, and traditional materials, TARU reduces debris, supports survival needs, and empowers vulnerable communities with a sustainable, flexible solution.
