Beyond the Lens
The Creative Possibilities of Scanography in Digital Imaging
Beyond the Lens highlights the significance of visual literacy and individual interpretation in effective digital media communication. This project uses a flatbed scanner as a mechanical reproduction medium to encourage the exploration of scanography and the creative use of experimental photography. Experiments were conducted to observe user interaction with technology and their perception of digital technology by investigating how a scanner may mediate and distort our relationship with the environment.
